Export using one of the legacy Japanese encoding, then open the file up in a text editor (VSCode, Notepad++, TextEdit thingy on Mac, etc), change the encoding to UTF-8 (no BOM), eyeball for mojibakes (there’ll definitely be a few), then save. Subtitle edit can only open one file at a time, and not sure how to adjust the timing.
